How it works
A side panel in the Canva editor that connects to your Portable account.
Page-aware context
When you send a message, the app reads text from your current design page and page dimensions (via the Canva Apps SDK) and passes that to your expert as structured context.

Skills, memory, and streaming replies work the same as on portable.expert. If your expert can generate images or use other tools, those show up right in the chat.

Sign in with your Portable account, switch experts, and add multiple accounts from the picker. Preferences persist in the app panel between sessions.

Nothing is sent until you ask a question. Each message can include a snapshot of what you are designing.
Plain text gathered from richtext on the current page helps your expert comment on copy, tone, and structure.
Width and height from the page context help ground suggestions for layout and hierarchy.
Messages go through the same Portable APIs as other surfaces, so history and expert identity stay consistent.
Set up in three steps
Install from Canva, sign in on portable.expert, pick an expert.
Add the app in Canva
Open Apps in the Canva editor and install Portable Expert from the marketplace (or your team’s approved apps).
Sign in to Portable
Tap Sign in. Your browser opens portable.expert; after you authenticate, return to Canva and the panel connects automatically.
Choose an expert and chat
Pick which expert to talk to, then ask about copy, layout, or creative direction. They use your page context on each send.
Good to know
You control when data is sent
Page context is included when you send a chat message, not continuously in the background.
Markdown in replies
Headings, lists, code, links, and images from your expert render cleanly in the panel.
Light and dark mode
The panel adapts its colors so it stays readable in whichever theme Canva is using.
